In today’s post we’re going to talk about the ever popular Welcome Skateboards. Welcome came onto the scene in 2010 and what a breath of fresh they were! Instead of trying to fit in with all the other brands around at the time by getting big name pros or producing the latest trendy graphics they decided to go their own way and just be themselves, the result was a board company that people could relate to, a company that is about fun, friendship, creativity and individuality. Welcome decks tend not to stick to the traditional popsickle shape most skaters are used to instead they opt for a more stylized nose and/or tail with varying sizes all the way from 7.75″ up to 9.0″ giving skaters the chance to experiment in ways which were previously not that available to the market. Another good thing to take note of is the lack of pro’s names on the decks, although it’s common practice for a company to have team decks without pro’s names you’d think it would be beneficial to have some pro’s on board to help drive sales but in Welcome’s case they’re turning skateboarding into less of a popularity contest and more of what it should be, just plain old FUN!
